Judokas Bishrelt Khorloodoi and Narmandakh Bayanmunkh earned the UAE's first two Asian Games medals at the Xiaoshan Lynpo Gymnasium in Hangzhou on Sunday.
Khorloodoi claimed silver in the women’s 52kg category while Bayanmunkh grabbed bronze in the men’s 66kg category on the opening day of the judo competition.
Khorloodoi fell short in her attempt after losing to Uzbekistan’s Diyora Keldiyorova in the final.
Earlier, she reached the semi-final after winning the bout against South Korean Yerin Jung.
Bayanmunkh defeated Uzbekistan’s Sardor Nurillave in the bronze medal contest.
The men's 60kg Judo final was won by Taiwan's Yang Yung-wei while North Korea’s Chae Kwang Jin took bronze.
Mohammed Bin Thaloub Al Derei, President of the UAE Wrestling and Judo Federation, congratulated the athletes on their achievement.
