Al Nasr Football Academy and Portugal’s top club, Benfica, have signed an agreement.
As per the deal, the Portuguese league champions will offer technical support and guidance to the Al Nasr Football Academy.
The details of the agreement were disclosed during a press conference held at the Al Nasr Club headquarters in Dubai on Tuesday.
Adel Muhammad Shakeri, Member of the Board of Directors of Al Nasr Football Company and General Supervisor of the Football Academy,
Ahmed Al Daleel, Director of Al Nasr Football Academy, and a delegation from Benfica Club attended the press conference.
Addressing the media, Shakeri highlighted the key points of the agreement, including technical management of the academy by Benfica club staff, sending players for training at the Portuguese club, and coaches learning technical expertise at Benfica.
Shakeri described that the agreement signals the start of a meaningful understanding between the two clubs and will serve as a pillar for future success in terms of training players and coaches at Al Nasr Club.
“This will also give them exposure to one of the best clubs on the continent of Europe and yield positive results in the form of a distinguished generation of football players and future stars,” Shakeri added.
Former Portuguese legend and Benfica star Nuno Gomes expressed delight over the signing of the agreement.
Describing the agreement as a unique step and initiative by the Benfica club, Gomes said: “Al Nasr Football Academy is one of the best academies in the UAE and a talent mine. “Agreement with a distinguished partner like Al Nasr is a great achievement and a big step to support available talent at the club and elevate it to the highest levels,” Gomes added.
