A delegation from the UAE left for the Argentine capital, Buenos Aires, on Wednesday to attend the International Polo Federation's (FIP) general assembly meeting, during which the country that will host the 2026 Polo World Cup will be finalised.
The UAE Polo Federation has high hopes of being chosen as the host country for the 2026 Polo World Cup.
The UAE delegation is led by Saeed Bin Drai, Vice President of the UAE Polo Federation, and includes Ali Omar, Director of Events at the Dubai Sports Council, and Ahmed Al Jumairi, Director of Dubai Business Events at the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism.
The President of the UAE Polo Federation, Mohammed Khalaf Al Habtoor, held a coordination meeting with the delegation and expressed his confidence in the members of the delegation and their efforts, wishing them success in winning.
Mohammed Khalaf Al Habtoor pointed out that a delegation from the International Polo Federation had visited the UAE, inspected the stadiums and facilities available, and praised all the facilities, which are among the best and most technologically advanced in the world.
"If the UAE wins the bid to host the 2026 Polo World Cup, it would be the best version in all aspects,” he added.
For his part, Saeed Bin Derei confirmed that the delegation has prepared a programme to achieve the goal of participating in the meetings and has contacted the relevant authorities to promote the bid to host the World Cup.
Ali Omar discussed the positive aspects expected from the series of coordination meetings with the national federations participating in the International Federation's General Assembly.
Ahmed Al Jumairi pointed out that the Department of Economy and Tourism will strongly support the delegation's efforts through an accompanying promotional campaign to promote the tourist, heritage, and entertainment sites in the UAE as one of the most attractive regions in the world for tourists and visitors.
