The Emirates Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (EBFF) has announced that the UAE powerlifting team will participate in the Asian Classic Powerlifting Championships, which will take place in the city of Johor Bahru in Malaysia. The championship beginning on Sunday and will end on Dec.18.
The delegation is headed by the Mohammed Abdul Rahim Al Marri, Secretary-General of the Emirates Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation, and includes seven male and female players, including board member and world champion Faisal Al Ghais Al Zaabi in the 83kg Masters category, in addition to Shamma Al Hosani in the 52kg Junior Women’s category and Maryam Abbas in the 52kg Open Category.
Others team members are Mayed Yousef Alredha, in the Junior 74 category; Mansour Al Marzooqi, in the 74kg Open category; Mohammed Al-Humaidi, in the 105kg Masters category; and John Endoso, in the 105kg Sub Junior category, in addition to the administrator, Amna Salem Al-Mahri, and the administrator, Ibrahim Abdullah Al-Ali.
Marri appreciated the efforts made by the members of the national team in preparation for the Asian Championships and extended his thanks to the federation’s Board of Directors.
He hailed Sheikh Abdullah Bin Hamad Bin Saif Al Sharqi, president of Emirates Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation, for his unwavering support, which in a way contributes to effective participation commensurate with the status of the UAE powerlifting team.
“This championship is one of the strongest in the world, and our ambition is to continue excellence and achieve colorful, high-level medals that will be added to the record of UAE sporting achievements,” he added.
