The Sanguem Warriors emerged victorious in the Innovative Interiors Champions Trophy cricket tournament, defeating favorites Petromann in the thrilling final held recently in Ras Al Khaimah.
After winning the toss, Sanguem Warriors opted to field first, restricting Petromann to a modest 55 runs with the loss of just two wickets. Tausif Jamadar top-scored for Petromann with a blazing 39 runs off 19 balls.
In reply, the Sanguem Warriors chased down the target with remarkable ease, losing only one wicket in the process. Abdul Shaikh led the charge with a quick-fire 29 runs off 12 balls, followed by a valuable 24 runs off 7 balls from Shakeeb. Captain Shaikh's astute leadership throughout the tournament proved instrumental in their dominant performance.
Shaikh was deservedly named the Man of the Match for his batting heroics.
The individual accolades for Best Batsman and Best Bowler went to Younus Wahab and Humair Khan of VSCC International Players, respectively.
However, the coveted Man of the Series award was bagged by Rehan Khan of Sanquelim Eagles for his consistently impressive all-round performance throughout the tournament.
The championship saw six top Goan teams, each bolstered by two international players, battle it out for supremacy. These teams included Sangem Warriors, Petromann, Sanquelim Eagles, VSCC, Karama 32 Warriors, and the host Unknown Virus.
The tournament was held in partnership with Goans Connecting Goans, adding a unique cultural touch and solidifying the event's commitment to uniting people through the shared passion for cricket.
