The Karate 1 Youth League Fujairah 2024 is expected to be a huge success, with record-breaking participation and organizational excellence.
The event will be held from February 22 to 25 at the Zayed Sports Complex in Fujairah.
A large number of players from UAE clubs will be participating in the tournament, with 108 registered so far.
The World Karate Federation expects the Fujairah tournament to be even bigger than the previous edition, which saw 1196 competitors from 67 countries.
The huge size of the league is considered the largest series of events in the world of karate.
Some of the participating delegations have already arrived in the UAE.
The delegations from Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, and Germany are keen to arrive early to prepare for the global event, which is the first qualifier for the 2026 Youth Olympics in Dakar, Senegal.
Engineer Humaid Shamsi, Secretary-General of the UAE Karate Federation and Tournament Director, stressed that the great cooperation and joint efforts between all institutions and authorities in the Emirate of Fujairah are a guarantee of success.
The Karate 1 Youth League is a continuation of UAE karate's achievements, the latest of which was the success of the women's karate team in winning two gold medals in the Asian Senior Championship.
Hawraa Al Ajmi and Fatima Khashif won the gold medals, and Hala, Fatima, and Sarah Al Ameri also entered the world rankings. The team also made achievements in the recent Asian Junior, Youth, and Under-21 Championship, winning four medals, including two silver and two bronze.
