The path to winning the Basketball Champions League Asia (BCL Asia) 2024 title has been determined as the groups for the first-ever edition of the event were confirmed in Friday's draw at the Dubai Sports Council in Dubai,
The 8 teams were divided into two groups of four teams each. The results of the draw are as follows: Group A consists of Liaoning Flying Leopards, Shabab Al Ahli, NS Matrix Deers and FIBA WASL champions. Group B comprises the Hiroshima Dragonflies, FIBA WASL runner-up, KCC Egis, and Pelita Jaya Basketball.
The draw’s ceremony was held in the presence of Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al-Marri, the Board Member of Shabab Al-Ahli Club; Naser Aman Al-Rahma, Assistant Secretary General of DSC; Ahmed Salim Al-Mahri, Director of Sports Development Department; Dr. Majid Sultan, the CEO; Mike, official of Asian Basketball Federation; Hosep Saraydaryan, Director of Communication and Media at the Asian Basketball Federation.
The teams will play in a round-robin format within their respective groups for a total of three games each in the group phase. The top two teams in the standings of each Group will advance to the semi-finals.
In the semi-finals, the first-place teams from Group A and B will play against the second-place team from the opposite group.
The winners of each semi-finals advance to the final. The victor of the final will be crowned champion of the Basketball Champions League Asia and earn the right to represent the continent at the FIBA Intercontinental Cup.
BCL Asia is rebranded from the FIBA Asia Champions Cup, Asia's premier club competition. The inaugural edition of the tournament will take place from June 9-15 in Dubai.
