571 athletes for UAE Youth Kickboxing Championship

The UAE Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federation announced the upcoming UAE Youth Kickboxing Championship, which is scheduled to take place from July 5-7 at Space 42 Hall, Al Raha Beach in Abu Dhabi.

The championship will feature 571 participants from 41 clubs from across the country.

Ali Khouri, a member of the Board of Directors of the UAE Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federation and the Executive Office of the International Kickboxing Federation, expressed pride in the substantial participation and its pivotal role in bolstering the sport’s success nationwide.

Khouri emphasized the championship’s significance as a crucial platform for participants, supporting plans to discover and nurture talents for national teams.

“This championship is a cornerstone in our calendar of events at the UAE Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federation, underscoring our commitment to advancing the sport nationally. It provides valuable opportunities for players and clubs to engage in official competitions, enhancing technical proficiency and performance standards,” noted Khouri.

The championship will commence with weigh-ins and medical screenings for participants on Thursday, July 4, at Space 42 Hall, Al Raha Beach.

Competitions kick off on July 5 at 3pm with qualifying rounds, followed by main competitions starting at 12pm the next day.

The final day’s matches will also commence at 12pm.

The federation has closed the registration process with a total of 571 participants aged between 8 and 18 years.

Competitors are divided into two categories: Point Fighting Style with 8 age divisions and K1 Style with 4 age categories. This represents one of the largest participations in the history of national kickboxing competitions, highlighting the sport’s prominence and the enthusiasm of players and clubs to engage with the federation’s ambitious agenda aimed at promoting the sport’s culture and expanding its reach.

This initiative contributes significantly to increasing opportunities for discovering promising talents.

The Emirates Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federation was established in May 2017 and is recognized as the official governing body for Muay Thai and Kickboxing in the UAE. The federation plays a leading and significant role in solidifying the foundations of these sports, contributing to the development of a community with a high level of knowledge and culture about both disciplines.
