The adrenaline-pumping skies of Dubai are set to witness a spectacular display of aerial prowess as the 8th Dubai International Parachuting Championship (DIPC) prepares to take flight.
To be held under the patronage and support of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defence, the championship promises heart-stopping action and precision landings.
The championship will take place from November 28 to December 5, 2024, at Skydive Dubai and organized by the Emirates Aerosport Federation (EAF).
The organising committee lauded the support of Sheikh Hamdan for his continuous and generous support for aerial sports in general, and for the Dubai International Parachuting Championship in particular.
The organising committee held its first meeting on Saturday, chaired by Yousef Al Hammadi, Vice President of the federation, also attended by Mohammed Yousef, Secretary General of the federation, Abdullah Murad, a board member, and representatives from government departments.
Hammad expressed his gratitude to Sheikh Hamdan for sponsoring the championship in its 8th edition, as well as to the Dubai Sports Council for their fruitful and constructive cooperation over the past years.
He also thanked all government bodies and federal institutions that contributed to the remarkable success achieved.
Hammadi welcomed the attendees and emphasized the importance of communication between the members of the organizing committee to coordinate before the next meeting so that the championship can be presented in its best form.
The committee aims to introduce new and innovative features in the upcoming edition, which is set to begin on November 28 and coincides with the celebration of the UAE's National Day.
Hammadi also praised the efforts of the working committees in the previous seven editions, which received acclaim from the International Parachuting Federation and participating delegations.
Yousef provided a detailed explanation of the championship venue and the logistical services that the organizing committee will offer to guests, including delegation heads, judges, skydivers, and organizers. He noted that the competitors' resting areas will be prepared well in advance and equipped with all necessary safety and security measures.
The freefall jumping schedules will start at 7am. at both Skydive Dubai (water skiing) and the second location in front of the Address Hotel.
Competitors will showcase their skills in various disciplines, including Accuracy Landing (for male, female, and junior participants) and Canopy Piloting (covering speed, distance, accuracy, and freestyle).
The federation confirmed that the championship will take place under the supervision of the Federation Aeronautique Internationale (FAI) in cooperation with the Dubai Sports Council.
The organising committee is chaired by Nasser Hamouda Al Neyadi, President of the Emirates Aerosports Federation.
