The Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation (APGC) is hosting the 30th Nomura Cup at Vinperal Golf Hai Phong in Hai Phong Vietnam.
Representing the UAE and the Emirates Golf Federation (EGF) will be Ahmad Skaik, Jonathan Selvaraj, and Sam Mullane.
The Nomura Cup, also known as the APGC Team Championship, is a biennial amateur team golf championship for men. Starting in 1963, the 2024 edition of the APGC Team Championship will host over 15 different countries. The tournament is held over four days with 18 holes of stroke play on each day, the best two daily rounds counting for the team score.
The tournament has been dominated by Australia, who have won the Cup 10 times, and Japan, who are seven-time winners. This event also has an individual champion.
The 30th Nomura Cup will be played on the Ninperal Golf Hai Phong – Marsh Course. Maxing out at 7,508 yards, par 72, the Marsh Course is known for its challenging natural marshy terrain. Five out of the final six holes have water hazards which will make the finish for this championship a true test.
“This might be one of the strongest teams that we have representing the UAE at the Nomura Cup. These gentlemen are ready, and we are excited to see how we match up with the other strong nations of the APGC.”, said Khalid Mubarak Al Shamsi, Secretary General of Emirates Golf Federation.
Captained by UAE National Golf Coach, Faycel Serghin, this team is looking to make an impact. With plenty of international experience from Skaik and Mullane, team UAE should have a strong showing.
Accompanying the team will also be Khalid Mubarak Al Shamsi.
