The UAE has been successful in positioning itself as a leading global destination for both leisure and business travelers and this has undoubtedly had a positive impact on the hospitality sector in the country.
Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) latest data showed that Dubai surpassed the pre-pandemic visitation levels by attracting a record 8.55 million international overnight visitors in the first half of 2023, compared to 8.36 million tourists in H1 2019.
“The UAE’s attractiveness as a global travel destination has been further enhanced by its geopolitical stability, world-class infrastructure and commitment to hosting international events. These factors continue to drive the growth of the tourism industry, and as a result, keep the hospitality industry robust,” said Slim Zaiane, General Manager at Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates.
Zaiane added, “Recently, the re-opening of China’s economy with supportive economic and political measures is undoubtedly a promising development for the hospitality industry. China’s decision to open up and welcome foreign investment creates exciting opportunities for the Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates and other international hotel brands.”
About the growth in occupancy, he revealed, “We are not only experiencing a strong growth rate in occupancy during the summer season but are also proud to report that we have been performing better than last year. As per the latest DET report for first half, Dubai’s hospitality sector has shown an impressive increase in overnight visitors. This positive trend is a testament to Dubai’s resilience as a global tourism destination and bodes well for the entire hospitality industry in the city.”
“Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates is well-positioned within our competitive set and we are committed to maintaining high ranks in the market. Given these positive developments, our team at Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates is enthusiastic about providing our guests with exceptional experiences that will exceed their expectations.”
On the rise of domestic tourism, Zaiane added, “UAE’s domestic tourism has shown remarkable resilience and strength and we have noticed an increasing preference for staycations among UAE residents. This preference for staycation is driven by several factors, including convenience, safety and the opportunity to discover hidden gems within the UAE.”
“Catering to this need, we launched our new staycation offers, “Time to Chill” and “Time to Gather,” exclusively for UAE residents. The “Time to Chill” offer caters to various preferences, with benefits such as 20% off on the best available rate, up to Dhs500 dine-in credit, 20 per cent discount on spa treatments at Sensasia stories and complimentary access to the Executive Lounge. For families seeking fun-filled getaways, kids go free and those booking the Corner Suite and above categories also receive two tickets to Ski Dubai.
“On the other hand, the “Time to Gather” offer is perfect for families or groups looking to celebrate special occasions in style. Guests staying in our three-bedroom chalets for a minimum of four nights receive a range of benefits, including 20% off on the best available rate, complimentary access to the Executive Lounge and two tickets to Ski Dubai. What sets this offer apart is the ultimate cinematic treat at the Vox Private Cinema once during their stay.”
He added “At Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates, we are dedicated to catering to the preferences of our UAE guests and providing them with unparalleled staycation experiences. With our luxury suites and chalets, access to world-class shopping, exceptional dining options and exciting partnerships with attractions like Ski Dubai and the Vox Private Cinema, we are confident that our staycation offers will continue to be highly sought after by UAE residents.”
On the hotel’s occupancy, he said, “It’s great to see that the source followed by market for our property remains strong, with a significant number of guests coming from the GCC region, India, Russia and Africa. Being aware of this helps us understand our target audience better and allows us to tailor our services and offerings to meet their specific preferences and needs.”
“During the summer, we typically see a surge in regional guests, including visitors from GCC countries such as Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman and Bahrain. Many residents from these countries travel to Dubai for various purposes. As for global guests, Dubai attracts tourists from various continents and countries worldwide. Travelers from Europe, Russia, Africa and even America are known to visit Dubai during the summer months, taking advantage of their vacation time and exploring the city’s unique offerings, such as shopping festivals like DSS (Dubai Summer Surprises), entertainment events and cultural experiences.”
For summer season preparation, Zaiane added, “Since the start of the summer season, we have been prepared to meet the ongoing demand during the peak months. One of our outstanding features is Aspen Ski Chalets ranging from a cosy Aspen Ski Chalet to an expansive Duplex Aspen Ski Chalet and the outstanding two and three-bedroom Aspen Ski Chalet. The modern rustic Aspen Ski Chalet offers the warmth of a cosy lodge with views of the powdery slopes of Ski Dubai.”
“For those seeking the luxuries of coastal living, the Aspen Pool Chalet offers direct access to the two outdoor infinity pools. Additionally, staying in our chalets comes with exclusive benefits, including access to the Executive Lounge and complimentary entry to the snow park in Ski Dubai.”
He concluded, “We have launched the new summer F&B offerings at Olea, Aspen by Kempinski, Salero and Mosaic Chill to provide exceptional gastronomic experiences that cater to various tastes and preferences. Vox Cinemas which boasts a 15-seater screen at the Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates offers an exclusive private cinema experience. Finally, after summer, we will be announcing the opening of two new restaurants, offering a diverse range of cuisines and providing our guests with even more dining options to choose from.”
