Pullman Dubai Creek City Centre, along with Funun Arts, inaugurated an exhibition on May 10, showcasing works inspired by ten legendary Impressionist artists. Being hosted at Artist Playground by Pullman, the show continues till June 30.
It offers an unparalleled opportunity for art enthusiasts to immerse themselves in the revolutionary world of Impressionism. The exhibition features an extensive collection of artworks influenced by some of the most iconic figures in art history. Visitors can marvel at the artworks of legendary artists taking form in paintings done by local artists. Each piece exemplifies the hallmarks of Impressionism: bold brushwork, vivid colours, and an emphasis on capturing the fleeting effects of light.
Participating artists include Debra S. Mascarenhas, Deeride, Dr. Anum Ali, Dr. Poonam Chauhan, Gesere, Heena Mamtani, Jyoti Devdhar, Khadija Noor, Mahfuzur Rahman, Natalia, Nazmin Rasheed, Rita Chehab, Rooma Eejaz, Sabah Anees, Sibel Yavuz, Shiba Khan and Vinita Bhagchandani. Shiba Khan, Founder and Director of Funun Arts Group, expressed her excitement this way: “The Impressionist art exhibition is a tribute to 150 years of Impressionism and its enduring influence on the world of art. Our goal is to celebrate the beauty and innovation of Impressionism, showcasing works of talented artists inspired by this movement. We hope to offer art enthusiasts a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the colours, textures, and emotions that define Impressionist art.”

Farah Khan, Creative Designer and Co-Founder of Funun Arts Group, said: “We are thrilled to celebrate the enduring legacy of Impressionism through this immersive exhibition. As we honour the pioneering spirit of Impressionist masters, we invite visitors to view the works and renew their understanding of the classical and contemporary artists’ bold experimentation and innovative vision.” Speaking about the exhibition, Laura Nicli, Hotel Manager – Pullman Dubai Creek City Centre Hotel said: “We are proud to collaborate with Funun Arts Group. Artist Playground by Pullman is a true and dedicated art hub that enables us to give a platform to local and internationally renowned artists and designers to exhibit their works to the art lovers of Dubai and the UAE.”
Sabah Anees, who is presenting a work titled Enigmatic Stare - A Portrait of Cillian Murphy from Peaky Blinders, said that “in the acrylic portrait of Cillian Murphy, I have tried to capture his enigmatic presence in meticulous detail with a black and white palette against a monochromatic backdrop of striking deep red. His piercing gaze, characteristic of his role in Peaky Blinders, commands attention, drawing viewers to the intensity of his character.” The contrast, besides adding depth and drama to the composition, evokes the gritty atmosphere of Peaky Blinders, summing up the essence of Murphy, capturing the strength and complexity of his character in the British period crime drama television series.

Nada Al Barazi, pioneer artist and guest, said that “it was a pleasure to experience the different forms of Impressionistic art by the dynamic and delightful artists of Funun Arts Group. Seeing the beautiful artworks and hearing the perspectives behind each piece, was an enlightening experience.” Rooma Eejaz, an artist from Pakistan, praised the exhibition’s topic. “The Impressionism theme allows artists to express their emotions and perceptions in a unique way,” she said. “The movement’s focus on capturing the essence of a scene rather than its exact details, makes it a captivating subject for any art exhibition.”
Dr. Poonam Chauhan, an Indian artist with a doctorate in arts, highlighted the educational value of the exhibition. “Impressionist art exhibitions encourage artists to delve deeper into the techniques and styles of master painters, allowing them to appreciate the nuances of this artistic movement and inspire new techniques in their work,” she said. Lebanese artist Rita Chehab, who portrays femininity and strength in her artworks, emphasised her connection to the theme. “Rita’s artistry shines through as she skillfully portrays delicate yet powerful women, each brushstroke revealing a story of resilience and grace,” said Shiba Khan.
