The Mosque of Sharjah has been scheduled to be opened on the first Friday in the holy month of Ramadan at the Isha and Tarawih prayers, announced media Mohamed Khalaf, Director General of Sharjah Radio and Television on Monday.
The mosque that is located in Al Taiy area has capacity for about 30,000 worshippers, including 5,000 worshippers in the inner sanctuary, and about 610 female worshippers, while the mosque’s outer yards can accommodate 25,000 worshippers, said Khalaf.
The Mosque of Sharjah is considered one of the most important mosques in the emirate of Sharjah, which enjoys great concern of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. He supervised the mosque’s design and details of its entire works in terms of its interior designs and inscriptions inspired by Islamic architecture.
The Mosque of Sharjah is one of the largest mosques in the emirate. It serves worshippers in the areas of Al Taiy, Al Seyouh and Telal City with easy access to its location through various roads such the Emirates Road that connects Sharjah to other emirates directly, in addition to Maleha road at the emirate’s entrance for those coming and going to and from Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah and Umm Al Quwain.
