On May 24, the Zayed Day for Humanitarian Action was held. The General Department of Protective Security and Emergency celebrated with labourers, people of determination, orphans and elderly. According to Major General Abdullah Ali Al Ghaithi, Director General of the Department of Protective Security & Emergency – Dubai Police, this day was an unforgettable day that urges us to be inspired to continue the act of humanitarian giving.
The General Department of Protective Security and Emergency – Dubai Police organised a special day which coincides with the anniversary of the death of the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The event was held at Shabab Al Ahli Club, Dubai.
The day was dedicated to honouring Sheikh Zayed’s great efforts in humanitarian work and celebrating with a group of labourers, people of determination, orphans and elderly.
The event was made possible by the UAE Government, Private Sector Parties, the Service Community Department at Shabab Al Ahli Club, participating Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation, Community Development Authority Dakhar, the Ministry of Education, Scout Commissioner and the main sponsor of the event, ABBC Foundation
Major General Abdullah Ali Al Ghaithi said: “Zayed Humanitarian Work Day is a day when we show that we are the best nation produced for mankind and to celebrate Zayed Humanitarian Work Day, which coincides with the anniversary of the death of the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and his giving that was established in his people and the whole world.”
Al Ghaithi confirms that the value of giving which Sheikh Zayed planted will retain its ember blazing in the country, thanks to leaders who inspire us every day to work for others and to look at the suffering of people around us. Being touched and realising that what afflicts mankind afflicts us will make the world a better place.
The Zayed Humanitarian Work Day has become an annual platform to launch humanitarian initiatives and charity from our various national institutions. This event is done to consolidate the legacy of Zayed and to follow his path in spreading volunteerism and humanism in its fullest form.
The coronation of the efforts of the state and its human-centred message, with the aim of making a difference in the lives of people and communities alike. Major General Al Ghaithi appreciated the efforts of the sponsors and supporters who participated in honouring the event as an embodiment of love and loyalty for Sheikh Zayed, which we draw from the impact and memory of his love for good, and the continuation of humanitarian work in all forms inside and outside of the state.
Suresh Kannan, the Marketing Manager at ABBC Foundation, said that their participation in Zayed Humanitarian work day is “a reflection of the vision of His Highness Sheikh Zayed Al Nahyan, who is deeply involved in humanitarian work and the duty of the company within community service in the UAE”. He expressed his pleasure in collaborating with the General Department of Protective Security and Emergency, Dubai Police in doing humanitarian work for the day.

WAM reports that Sheikh Hamdan bin zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, stated that the annual Zayed Humanitarian Work Day, held on 19th Ramadan, will encourage the launch of many local and international charity and humanitarian initiatives, which will enhance the UAE’s global humanitarian stature.
In his statement marking the day, he added that the UAE’s celebration reflects its unique experience in humanitarian work, whose foundations were established by the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
