The Brexit trade talk is moving at a slow place as deadline approaches.

According to sources, the UK and European Union negotiators have reached some breakthrough on Friday but they haven’t agreed on fair competition or fishing rights.

The deadline for the talks was scheduled for Sunday but emotions are heightened following Britain’s decision on access to waters.

On Saturday, Britain announced that naval vessels will be patrolling its waters from January 1, excluding European countries from the fishing grounds.

"They are making inroads on some difficult stuff. How to manage divergence and soften the blow for (EU) fishermen is still open," said one EU diplomat.

If the UK and EU don’t reach a trade deal agreement, cross-channel trade will regress to WTO rules, with tariffs increasing prices and requirement for importers to have paperwork.
