Sadness engulfed a village in Ash Sharqia Governorate, Egypt, when its people attended the funeral of a newlywed couple whose wedding car overturned and fell into a canal minutes away from the reception hall.
The venue turned into a funeral home, according to local media.
The people of the village buried three coffins, the bride, the groom and the sister of the bride after the public prosecution authorised the burial of the bodies because there was no criminal suspicion in the incident.

According to the media, the groom is the eldest son of his father, who is a differently abled man.
The groom has younger siblings.
A brother of the groom also drowned last year, leaving the family in shock.
The villagers pointed out that the groom had taken a huge loan for the marriage, and now left behind unpaid debts.
Investigations revealed that the accident happened after the couple left the city of Zagazig, heading to the village in Ash Sharqia Governorate for the reception. People said the couple’s car overturned and fell into a canal in front of the village of Tahla Bardin.
They were trapped in the car. Two children were pulled out. The driver also managed to get out.
The bodies of the bride and her sister were later recovered from the canal, while Civil Defence officers extricated the body of the groom.
The driver was taken into custody for interrogation but was later released, as there was no foul play detected.
