On August 15, at 7.30am, the flag hoisting ceremony on the occasion of the 75th Independence Day of India was held at the India Social and Cultural Centre, Abu Dhabi.
The tricolour was raised by George Varghese, Hon. Acting President of ISC. This was done in the presence of Madam Mahra Al Amry, Manager, Ministry of Community Development (MOCD) Abu Dhabi, Jojo Ambooken, Hon.
General Secretary of ISC, K. Muraleeedharan, Patron Governor of ISC, Managing Committee of ISC. Among others present were General Governors of ISC, former President & General Secretaries of ISC, Y.K. Gupta, Bank of Baroda, Asst. General Manager, Neeraj Barghava, Principal of ADIS, Rajesh Kumar, Airport Manager, Air India and Ambareen Sheikh, Hon. President ILA .
Five films of different genres and storylines from an industry that began in 1926 had been selected for free public viewing at the Manarat Al Saadiyat in the Saadiyat Cultural District of the capital.
The ceremony was attended by a large number of community members residing in the capital city who witnessed the flag hoisting and listened to the special messages from President Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
