The family of the child Saif Ismail thanked Sheikha Latifa Bint Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, wife of the Crown Prince of Fujairah, for undertaking to pay the remaining amount required for the medical treatment of their child, who suffers from spinal muscular atrophy.
Saif’s mother Hayat told Al Khaleej that Sheikha Latifa’s initiative to complete the amount of money that the family had long been unable to settle was not strange to the UAE people, who are known for their generosity, humanity and philanthropy.
Sheikha Latifa’s initiative reflected the path that the UAE wise leadership took to help other people inside and outside the UAE, she added.

Saif, who is from Morocco and has a Syrian father, is an only child and suffered from a rare disease as soon as he was born, Hayat said, adding that as a result of this disease, he was unable to breathe or swallow.
She pointed out that she was suffering from taking care of him due to the muscle atrophy that he suffered from and required extra care during the day. The treatment of this disease requires an injection, which is worth over $2 million, she said.
Hayat also thanked the International Charity Organisation, which opened an account for donations for her son, and Dubai Islamic Bank, which donated Dhs2 million.
