The Dubai Criminal Court sentenced an African to one year in prison to be followed by deportation over stabbing an Asian, causing a permanent disability estimated at 9 per cent.
Earlier, last May, the authorities received a report from one person stating that he had seen an Asian person stabbed by an African, who was bootlegging in a corridor between buildings, few moments after the victim had bought from him.
The African (convict) surprised the victim by stabbing him with a knife that he had in his possession and fleeing the scene, the witness added.
He put a piece of cloth on the victim’s wound and called the police, who dispatched an ambulance to the scene, and he was sent to the hospital for treatment.
The victim stated in the investigations that he had bought a drink for Dhs5 from an African bootlegger and leaned his back against the wall of a building.
Then, he was surprised by the convict assaulting him with a knife that was in his possession.
According to the forensic lab report, the victim sustained a wound in the lower right abdomen and underwent an operation to remove the right half of the colon and sew the lumbar muscle wound. He sustained a permanent disability estimated at 9 per cent, the report added.
A cop also stated that a patrol arrived at the scene, where they found a box of alcoholic beverages and a stain of blood on the ground, while the victim was in the ambulance to be sent to hospital.
Accordingly, the investigations into the incident were initiated to identify and arrest the perpetrator. He was arrested and confessed to his crime that took place after an argument between him and the victim, the cop added.
The culprit was booked and faced several criminal charges and finally the Dubai Criminal Court sentenced him to one year in prison.
