The "Eco Spring" team at the Faculty of Engineering at Assiut University won the first prize at the level of Egyptian universities, in designing the first environmentally friendly and energy-saving car.
Dr Shehata Ghareeb, Vice President of the university for Education and Student Affairs, said that the car runs on an energy-saving electric battery and at the same time does not emit harmful emissions. Ghareeb added that the idea on which the car's design was based comes within the framework of supporting distinguished thinking, which Egypt seeks in the coming period.
He pointed out that the winning team includes 20 students from various departments of the Faculty of Engineering, who will represent Egyptian universities in the coming period, through the Shell International Automotive Design Competition in France, in which more than 50 countries will participate.
The team will also take part in the African Forum competition, which is scheduled to be held in Dubai, during the coming period. Dr Tarik El Gammal, President of Assiut University, congratulated the students on this distinguished achievement and wished them an honourable representation of Egypt in the upcoming competitions.
