The population of the Emirate of Dubai increased 165 times, during the period from 1950 to 2020, according to a report published by Dubai Media Office through its official account on the social networking site Twitter.
The media office said on Twitter, “In 2020, the population increased to 3.3 million, while the number is expected to reach 5.8 million in 2040.”
The Dubai Government Media Office published an infographic of population growth in the emirate between 1950 and expected in 2040, where it indicated that the population of it multiplied by 165 times between 1950 and 2020, where the population in 1950 was 20,000, while in 1960 it reached 40,000.
In 1970 the population of Dubai reached 73,000, and in 1980 the number reached 254,000. In 1990 the population of the emirate was 473,000, in 2000 it reached 907,000, while in 2010 it reached 1.8 million.
The rise in population can be attributed to the opportunities the emirate offers and the number is expected to reach 5.8 million in 2040.
