A video clip on Twitter has received 100,000 views of a plane engine belonging to the Mexican airline, Viva Aerobus, on fire.
The engine flames erupted just minutes after flight VB518 took off from Guadalajara International Airport to Los Angeles when the right engine of the Airbus A320 caught fire.
The pilot was able to return to the airport in an emergency landing without any of the passengers injured.
"We deeply regret the inconvenience that has caused fear and panic to the passengers, which will be analysed and evaluated by the airline and the relevant authorities," the airline said in a press release.
The company provided hotel rooms for all passengers to depart on a flight the next morning.
The airline said it would include Airbus, the plane's manufacturer, and Pratt & Whitney, the company that built the engine, to investigate the cause of the fire.
The company confirmed its commitment to safety on each of its flights, which is the company's first priority.
This is the second accident of this airline in the past three months, which required an emergency landing in Mexico.
