A significant drop in temperature estimated at six degrees Celsius was seen in separate areas across the UAE on Friday. The temperature, which was 23 degrees Celsius on Thursday, dropped to 18 degrees Celsius on Friday. The lowest temperature of 2 degrees Celsius was recorded in Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah on Friday.
The country also witnessed active northeasterly winds at 40 km/h and a rise in sea waves of 7 feet in the Arabian Gulf, which continued for 12 hours. Saturday’s weather is expected to be partly cloudy in general and cloudy at times over some coastal and western areas and islands with a chance of rain and a gradual rise in temperature, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).
Light to moderate northeasterly to easterly winds will blow, turning to active at times at 15 to 25 and up to 40 km/h offshore, it added, noting that the sea will have moderate waves but will become rough at times in the Arabian Gulf, while it will have regular waves in the Sea of Oman. Sunday’s weather will be partly cloudy in general and cloudy at times over some coastal areas and islands with a chance of light rains, it said.
Light to moderate northeasterly to easterly winds will blow, turning to active at times at 15 to 25 and up to 40 km/h, while the sea will be rough in the morning but will have moderate to regular waves in the Arabian Gulf and regular waves in the Sea of Oman, it added. Monday’s and Tuesday’s weather will be partly cloudy and dusty in general and cloudy at times with a chance of rain offshore and over islands and coastal and northern areas at night and on Wednesday morning, the NCM said.
Light to moderate southeasterly winds will blow, turning to moderate to active northwesterly and to strong at times offshore at night at 15 to 25 and up to 45 km/h. it added. The sea will have regular to moderate waves but will be gradually rough at night in the Arabian Gulf compared to regular to moderate waves in the Sea of Oman, it said.
