But with Akram, it was different. Rather than become a cricketer like him, Akram’s son, Tahmoor, has become a mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter, though he has not turned professional yet. He lives in America now, according to media reports.
Akram made the revelation to Cricket Pakistan during an event in the UAE.
Akram tries to be a good, liberal father, so he has given Tahmoor a free hand in choosing the career he wants rather than restrict him to a career with the willow and leather.
“I have given my children the right to live the life they want. If he wants to be a fighter, then he must," Akram said.
Yes, if Tahmoor trains hard and punches above his weight, who knows, maybe he can become a seasoned fighter one day.
