Giuseppe Saba, CEO of the International Humanitarian City, revealed that the city is preparing to ship about 600 tonnes of aid to Turkey and Syria, in coordination with the city's partners in Emirates Airlines and various institutions, via the air bridge launched by the UAE to provide relief to those affected by the earthquake.
Saba affirmed that on Saturday, the first aid shipment arrived in the city of Aleppo in Syria, in addition to the arrival of a shipment last week to Turkey from WHO stocks.
He continued that he considered Dubai's location very strategic, given that in a trip that takes about 7 hours, two-thirds of the population who live near disaster-prone areas can be reached.
Dubai International City for Humanitarian Services hosts the largest humanitarian logistics centre in the world, He added.
It is worth noting that according to data of the past years, aid has increased significantly in terms of the volume of relief materials and the number of flights operated by the city.
