A dispute over Dhs60, which caused a quarrel between two Asians, ended with the death of one of them, while the perpetrator fled to an unknown destination. The investigation teams at the Al Rifa'a police station were able to arrest him within 3 hours using artificial intelligence techniques and cameras.
The accused, after he confessed to his crime, had been referred to the Public Prosecution for further legal procedures, the Dubai Police stated. In details, Colonel Omar Mohammed Bin Hammad, Director of Al Al Rifa'a police station, explained that the advanced security system adopted by the Dubai Police contributes to reducing crimes and speeding up the arrest of offenders in record time.
The patrols of Al Al Rifa'a police station arrived at the scene within three minutes from receiving a report about a person stabbed to death on a street between parked cars. They were accompanied by ambulance, which transferred the body to forensic department, Colonel Bin Hammad added. “It was found that the victim died after receiving stabs in the chest by a knife which was found in the scene,” he said.
Accordingly, quick measures were taken to pursue the accused, who fled the scene, leaving behind the crime tool, Col. Bin Hammad said. Thanks to the AI techniques and modern cameras, in addition to the efficiency of the investigation teams, the accused had been arrested in a building far from the scene, he added.
The security teams managed to control the accused, as he tried to flee again. He was then driven to the police station for interrogation. He admitted that he had a dispute with the victim over the amount of Dhs60, so he bought the knife, intending to just threaten him, but the matter developed and he stabbed him to death.
