The Department of Islamic Affairs in Sharjah has inaugurated the Halima Al Saadia Mosque in Al Tarfa, Sharjah City.
The mosque, which can accommodate 1,300 male and female worshipers and is characterised by its vital location, comes as part of the department’s plan for the current year to open a number of new mosques of various designs and architectural styles in separate outskirts across the emirate to accommodate worshippers during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
The inauguration was attended by Abdullah Khalifa Yarouf Al Sabousi, Head of the Department of Islamic Affairs in Sharjah, and a number of officials in the department, who toured the mosque and were briefed on its facilities before performing the Maghrib prayer.
The mosque was built according to the modern Islamic architectural style with a circular dome in the middle and two 41-metre high minarets on a total land area of 5,094 square meters, which covers the prayer room and its service facilities. The men’s prayer room can accommodate 1,145 worshipers, while the women’s prayer room can accommodate 155 women.
Al Sabousi praised the continuous support by His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, for the department as well as his keen interest in allocating the best lands and vital places for the building of mosques.
He appreciated the efforts of philanthropists in the emirate and their kind initiatives to build mosques, noting that the Halima Al Saadia mosque was built at the expense of a female philanthropist.
