The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (Mohre), on Tuesday, announced the allocation of 356 fully-equipped rest stations for delivery drivers across the UAE. These rest stations offer essential services to protect drivers from the scorching sun and heat exhaustion, especially during summer.

This comes in coordination between the Ministry and the companies operating delivery service and with the support and participation of the concerned government entities.

This measure also aligns with the Midday Break that has started from June 15 and will continue until September 15, between 12:30 pm and 3:00 pm daily.

The initiative translates the Ministry’s keenness on the safety of delivery workers through protecting them from sunstroke and heat exhaustion during their work during the summer, which witness remarkable increase in temperatures, especially in the afternoon times.

These efforts are part of the partnership and cooperation between the Mohre and delivery companies, such Talabat, Deliveroo, Noon, Careem, and InstaShop among others. The initiative will provide 356 fully-equipped rest stations distributed across the country that can be used by delivery riders. They can locate them via the GPS, the Mohre added.

The rest stations have been allocated across various parts of the UAE to be used by any delivery driver, who can locate all stations through the GPS location system.

Mohsen Al Nassi, Assistant Under-Secretary for Inspection Affairs at MoHRE, said, "This initiative reflects the commitment of these delivery companies to social responsibility, as well as their awareness of the importance of complying with health and occupational safety requirements by providing workers a suitable working environment that mitigates risks.”
