A new video clip documented the tragedy of the Iraqi girl, Haneen, known in the media as the “Hamdaniya Bride,” during the funeral of her father, who joined her mother and brother following the massive fire that broke out at her wedding.
The father died on Tuesday as a result of his injuries in the wedding hall fire in Al-Hamdaniya, Nineveh Governorate, northern Iraq.
Circulating footage showed the 18-year-old bride walking behind her father’s coffin, wearing black clothes, leaning on her husband, Revan (27 years old), and another woman. She appeared completely devastated, crying, repeating: “Oh Lord,” while a woman tried to calm her down.
These poignant scenes came in conjunction with the Nineveh Health Department’s announcement that the number of victims of the Hamdaniyah tragedy had risen to 119 people.
The bride, Haneen, lost ten members of her family, including her mother and brother, in this fire, while her husband, Revan, lost 15 of his relatives.
It is noteworthy that the results of government investigations into this massive fire showed that the cause was gross negligence and “failure to provide safety supplies in the hall.”
