Dubai Criminal Court imprisoned 3 Asians for 5 years to be followed by deportation after serving their sentences, on charges of assaulting an African and causing his death following a dispute between them that developed into a fist fight due to the illegal purchase of alcoholic beverages.

Details of the case date back to June 2023, when a report was received by the police operations room alerting an assault in Satwa area in Dubai.

A policeman stated in interrogations that a security patrol rushed to the site of the report, and when they arrived, they saw an African and an Asian lying on the ground, with serious injuries.

They were transported by ambulance to hospital, and two days later, a report was received stating that the African had died and the other person had left hospital after receiving the necessary treatment.

According to the case file, the suspect and two others were arrested after being proved involved in the assault.

On being interrogated, the first suspect confessed that he was with the two others when they headed to a street in Satwa area to buy alcoholic drinks from Africans who traffic in alcoholic beverages illegally, including the victim.

He added that the victim and others, including a woman, assaulted him after he refused the woman’s request to provide immoral services in return for money. The woman allegedly beat him with the help of the unknown persons, and then the first and second suspects tried joined the fist fight.

The second and third suspects confessed that they saw Africans attacking their friend, so they helped him before someone shouted that the police are coming, so everyone fled towards a nearby street, while the victim fled towards a building in the area. They then chased and assaulted him while he was climbing the stairs of the building before he fell to the ground, as they kicked him in various parts of his body and then the police arrived at the scene, they added.

The report of the Forensic Medicine Department of the General Department of Forensic Evidence and Criminology stated that the victim had body injuries due to assault with hands and feet, and that the main cause of his death was acute failure of kidney function as a result of the degeneration of muscle cells, and assault and physical stress due to the fight.

The report also pointed out that he suffered from sickle-cell red blood cell disease, and that all these factors resulted in the degeneration of muscle cells, which caused severe kidney function failure, which led to his death.
