The Traffic and Patrols Directorate, in collaboration with the Security Media Department at Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, has launched traffic awareness videos using computer-generated imagery (CGI). It is a specific-technology or application of computer graphics for creating or improving images in art, printed media, simulators, videos and video games.
These videos will be viewed on social media platforms to provide high quality, real-world images.
Brigadier General Mahmoud Yousef Al Blushi, Director of the Traffic and Security Patrols Directorate, stressed the Abu Dhabi Police's commitment to utilizing the cutting-edge technologies and smart solutions to promote traffic awareness, improve security measures, and enhance competitiveness. This aligns with the vision and strategy of the Abu Dhabi Police to provide smart and interactive government services that cater to the growing interest in creativity, innovation, and smart solutions, he added.
He also pointed out that these CGI videos aim to increase public awareness of traffic safety, encourage proper behaviour, and promote a safe traffic environment. These objectives are aligned with the Abu Dhabi Police's strategic priorities of road security and the strategic objectives of enhancing awareness, traffic culture, and enforcing traffic regulations, he added.
For his part, Major Ahmed Abdullah Al Muhairi, Director of the Digital Traffic Awareness and Education Project at the Directorate, said that traffic awareness through CGI videos is one of the forms of modern media messages to reach different segments of society.
He further noted that the videos would cover various safety topics, including the hazards of distracted driving, the importance of vehicle maintenance, the risks of sudden swerving, ways to improve pedestrian safety, and how to stay safe while using electric bicycles. Additionally, the videos will promote safe driving during adverse weather conditions.
