A delegation from the Emirates News Agency (WAM), led by Director-General Mohamed Jalal Alrayssi, visited several media organisations in Kenya and met with their respective senior officials to discuss opportunities for developing bilateral cooperation in the fields of media, knowledge transfer, and cultural exchanges.

The delegates met with Julia Majale, Managing Director at TUKO, an online digital asset creation platform; Paul Macharia, Acting Managing Director of the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC); Najib Gouiaa, CEO, MediaCity Mauritius; and Joseph Kipkoech, Director of Kenya's Directorate of Information Services, to which the Kenya News Agency is affiliated. The meetings addressed the prospects of accelerating media collaboration in the field of digital media, exchange of radio programmes, professional training, and exchange of expertise.

The delegation also visited the Nation Media Group, the largest independent media house in East and Central Africa with operations in print, broadcast and digital media, and met with Joe Ageyo, Editor-in-Chief.

The delegates concluded their tour with a visit to the Standard Group Plc, a multimedia organisation with investments in media platforms spanning newspaper print operations, television, and radio broadcasting, where they discussed with Ochieng Rapuro, Editor-in-Chief, ways to enhance joint cooperation.

The WAM delegation invited Kenyan media organisations to participate in the third edition of the Global Media Congress (GMC), which will be held in Abu Dhabi in November.

The GMC provides a global platform for relevant institutions, companies, stakeholders, and specialists in the field to exchange experience and expertise, build partnerships, and learn about the latest developments and innovations in the media field at the global level.

During the visit, Alrayssi stressed the importance that WAM attaches to building effective partnerships with media institutions in Africa, where the agency aspires to expand its media reach to different parts of the world and Africa in particular, in a way that supports its presence on the regional and international scene as one of the reliable sources and prestigious news references.
