The Dubai Court of Appeal upheld a six-month prison sentence and deportation for an Asian woman for attempting to kill her boyfriend after believing that he was in relationship with another woman.

In August 2022, the defendant and her Arab boyfriend had a fight at his home in Al Muraqqabat area, Dubai. The victim attacked the defendant and stabbed him.

The case file says that the defendant told the police what had happened and called for an ambulance.

She also told the investigators that she had seen her boyfriend talking to another woman through a video calling app in the kitchen of the apartment she lived in with him.

When she asked him about the woman he was talking to and tried to get his phone to make sure he wasn't in a relationship with her, he refused and ended the call, before assaulting her and pushing her away from his phone.

She brought a knife from the kitchen and threatened to kill him if he didn't stop beating her up, she told the police.

She also added that her boyfriend kept slapping her face and beating her up, so she stabbed him several times.

He tried to run away, but he fell near the door after opening it. She then called the police and ambulance, which transferred the victim to the hospital for medical treatment.

The victim said he was in a relationship with the accused. On the day of the incident, he was talking to his sister while preparing food.

At that moment, the accused entered and heard him talking on phone with a woman, so she believed that he was in relationship with another and asked to check his phone.

When he refused, she got angry, grabbed a knife and stabbed him several times. She tried to flee but retreated and reported the incident to the police when she saw a neighbour filming.

According to the forensic doctor's testimony, the victim was stabbed three times by a knife on the left and right side of his chest and left forearm. The stab wound to the chest was deep and caused pressure bleeding on the heart and pulmonary arteries. His treatment lasted more than 20 days.
