Tawam Hospital recently demonstrated the remarkable expertise of its medical team with their timely intervention in saving the life of a 15-year-old Emirati boy who was in critical condition following a severe car accident that resulted in significant brain haemorrhage.

The young patient, who had fallen into a coma and was unresponsive, was swiftly transported to Tawam Hospital’s emergency department, part of the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA). The hospital's skilled medical emergency trauma team in the children's emergency unit implemented advanced resuscitation techniques to stabilise the boy.

An urgent CT scan revealed a severe brain haemorrhage, placing substantial pressure on delicate brain tissues and posing an immediate threat to his life. The young patient was transferred to the operating room, where he received specialised care from a highly experienced team of neurosurgeons led by Dr. Mohammed Al-Asha, Head of the Neurosurgery Division.

The neurosurgical team's expertise and prompt action played a pivotal role in successfully stopping the bleeding and removing brain-clot compression, averting permanent damage for the young boy in a critical situation.

Following the successful surgery, the patient was transferred to the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit, where he required an extended period of anaesthesia and respiratory support. The paediatric Intensivist team, led by Dr. Nidal Omar Al-Hashaykeh, Head of the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at Tawam Hospital, stabilised the patient’s condition and provided necessary supportive care, enabling the young patient to make a remarkable recovery and regain his neurological functions almost entirely.

The patient's family shared their heartfelt gratitude, saying, "In our darkest moments, we found hope and comfort at Tawam Hospital. We cannot express our appreciation enough to the amazing team who treated our son with the utmost care and expertise.
