Sharjah Museums Authority announces the launch of its latest exhibition, "Journey of Discoveries," at the Sharjah Archaeology Museum.

Inaugurated by Aisha Rashid Deemas, Director General of the Sharjah Museums Authority on Thursday, the first of its kind exhibition in the UAE and the Emirate of Sharjah, offers an immersive and interactive archaeological experience tailored for children aged 2 to 13.

Held at the Sharjah Archaeology Museum, the unique "Journey of Discoveries" exhibition will run until May 18, 2025, with an aim to introduce children to the fascinating world of archaeology and highlight the significance of archaeological artifacts.

Through a series of engaging, hands-on activities, young visitors will learn how to use excavation tools and understand the processes that archaeologists employ in their fieldwork.

The adventure is designed to spark a love for knowledge and exploration, all under the guidance of the museum's qualified guides.

Children begin their journey by donning specially designed outfits and handling carefully selected excavation kits that meet safety standards to ensure their well-being.

They then proceed to a model excavation site where they can practice digging and unearthing replicas of artifacts.

Aisha Rashid Deemas stated that during their exploration, children will document their findings and collaborate with their peers, ultimately culminating in the collection of their precious discoveries. These activities enable them to weave stories about the artifacts and the archaeological site, which they can later share with their family and friends.

The primary goal of this inaugural exhibition is to attract children to the Sharjah Archaeology Museum consistently, fostering long-term relationships and cultivating an appreciation for cultural heritage preservation among the younger generation.

It additionally seeks to highlight the critical role of archaeologists and the significant efforts involved in uncovering the secrets of the past. By engaging children who show a keen interest in archaeology, the exhibition aims to inspire a new generation of researchers and professionals in the field.

The museum places significant emphasis on children by providing them with interactive educational opportunities to enhance their knowledge of the rich history and archaeology of the Emirate of Sharjah.

Participants will also have the opportunity to explore the "Little Archaeologist" hall, the first interactive archaeology hall in the country. This space offers children aged 5 to 12 an engaging introduction to the archaeological treasures of Sharjah through a variety of models, technologies, and practical activities that stimulate their senses and imagination.

At the hall, children can test their abilities and apply them to understand what archaeologists have discovered about ancient human life in Sharjah, from the Stone Age to the early centuries AD.
