Abu Dhabi Court of First Instance for Family and Civil and Administrative Cases obliged a woman to pay an amount of Dhs20,000 in compensation to a man for defaming and insulting him via a text message.

In the details, a man filed a lawsuit against a woman, requesting that she be obliged to pay him Dhs200,000 in compensation for the material and moral damages he incurred due to defamation, insult, and harm to his reputation and dignity.

The plaintiff stated that he filed a criminal complaint, and a ruling was issued by Abu Dhabi Criminal Court fining the appellee Dhs4,000, in addition to obliging her to pay the judicial fees.

The ruling became final as it was not appealed, the plaintiff added.

The court clarified that the criminal ruling proved that the appellee defamed the plaintiff as stated in the papers, and the ruling was final according to the certificate issued by the Public Prosecution.

The court then found the appellee at fault and obliged her to pay the plaintiff Dhs20,000 in compensation for all the moral and material damages he incurred.
