His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has approved a plan to build 60 new mosques and rebuild 40 mosques across the emirate’s cities at a cost of Dhs800 million.
Sheikh Sultan also instructed the authorities concerned to develop and maintain the cemeteries in Kalba City, pave the roads leading to them and the parking lots as well and remove trees and random weeds.
This was announced by Abdullah Khalifa Bin Yarouf Al Sabousi, Chairman of Sharjah Department of Islamic Affairs, to Mohammed Khalaf, Director General of Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, on the Direct Line programme.
Al Sabousi stated that 95 per cent of the mosques currently being replaced are mosques on the main streets, noting that it is planned to open the new mosques within the next two years.
