The Municipality and Planning Department - Ajman received a delegation from the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) to discuss joint cooperation and coordinate efforts to launch the “Giving Caravan” initiative for community service.
The meeting was held in the presence of Ahmed Saif Al Muhairi, Director of the MPDA’s Agriculture and Public Parks Department, and a delegation from the ERC, headed by Mohammed Omar Al Shammari, Director of the ERC Centre in Ajman, Kholoud Ali Moussa, Head of the Community Awareness Department, and Aisha Obaid Al Kaabi, Head of the Local Aid Department, and Sultan Al Suwaidi, Head of the Donations Department.
The meeting focused on coordinating joint activities between the two parties, as Al Safia Park in Ajman was approved to host the “Giving Caravan” at the state level, which is scheduled to kick off from November 28th to December 2nd 2024.
Ahmed Saif Al Muhairi said that the MPDA takes pride in its partnership with the EmiratesRC to launch the “Giving Caravan”, which is a true embodiment of the values of community solidarity, and commitment from the MPDA to support these humanitarian initiatives that aim to provide health, social and cultural services that serve all segments of society, and provide all facilities for their success in the Emirate of Ajman.
The MPDA is keen to encourage community initiatives that play great part in improving life quality, and enhancing cooperation among various parties to serve the community, Al Muhairi noted, adding that the “Giving Caravan” comes as a distinct step to meet the needs of productive families and those with low income within a comprehensive vision for sustainable development.
The “Giving Caravan” is a pioneering initiative launched by the EmiratesRC as a social responsibility with the aim of providing comprehensive humanitarian eligible groups in society. The caravan includes several diverse programmes; healthcare, social services, and community awareness, where mobile health clinics are organised to provide free medical examinations in basic specialities such as diabetes and blood pressure, in addition to distributing medical devices to those in need.
The caravan also provides various humanitarian aid to productive families and those with low income, and includes educational and awareness activities aimed at enhancing health and social awareness among the public, Al Muhairi said.
This initiative comes under the direction and support of the senior leadership of the ERC, to reflect the noble values and humanitarian principles that the ERC seeks to spread within the state, especially among the most needy groups in vital areas such as health, education, and social care, in a manner that enhances solidarity and community cohesion.
