The Dubai Criminal Court convicted an Asian national and sentenced him to life in jail on charges of possessing heroin, which he sold to a compatriot, who was sentenced to six months in prison, with their deportation from the country after serving their sentence, and the confiscation of the heroin from their possession.
The suspects were caught red-handed while committing their crime inside a vehicle in the Jebel Ali area.
The details date back to an earlier time when information was received about the first suspect's possession and use of narcotic substances in Jebel Ali Industrial Area.
A policeman stated that the investigations affirmed that the suspect was a drug user and possessed a quantity of drugs so an order was issued by the Public Prosecution in Dubai to arrest him.
A team from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) identified the location of the second suspect, who was arrested inside a vehicle he was driving with the first.
Upon searching them, narcotic substances were found and a plastic bag containing the same substance was found with the first suspect, so they were both taken to the General Department of Narcotics Control, and samples were taken from them and the seized materials were sent to the Forensic Laboratory.
The report of the General Department of Forensic Evidence and Crime Science affirmed, after examining the seized materials with the suspects, that they were plastic wraps containing heroin.
The sample of the second suspect indicated that he was a heroin abuser, and when he was interrogated, he confessed to this.
He also admitted that he possessed a quantity of heroin when he was arrested, which he had bought from the first suspect for Dhs100.
The first suspect denied drug trafficking, but the evidence proved that he was trading in heroin and sold a quantity of it to the second suspect.
