The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) has revealed that the exemption from late fees associated with the Emirates ID card is automatically applied to benefiting categories prior to the payment of fees, in accordance with the established procedures for the exemption of late fees.
The ICP explained the five-step process for applying for an exemption from late fees related to the ID card via the website (www.gov.ae) and the smart application UAEICP. These steps are as follows: Log in to the account via the UAE PASS, then select the ID card renewal service, review the retrieved data, and update it where applicable. The exemption is then automatically reversed for the benefiting categories before the fees are paid. Finally, pay the fees and submit the application.
Customers are required to verify the validity of the ID number and its expiry date in the renewal or replacement request, and to verify the accuracy and correctness of the data entered in the electronic form, prior to the payment of fees, in order to avoid delays in the completion of the transaction. Furthermore, it is essential to guarantee the prompt conclusion of the transaction within the stipulated timeframe. Additionally, it is vital to confirm the legitimacy of the provided contact number, email address, and delivery method. It should be noted that the information entered is subject to scrutiny and examination by the relevant authority.
Recently, the ICP identified three categories that are exempt from late fees related to the Emirates ID Card. These include individuals who have left the country and more than three months have passed since their departure, as well as individuals whose ID Card has expired after their deportation by an administrative order or decision, or a judicial ruling. Furthermore, the exemption encompasses individuals whose passports have been seized in the context of ongoing legal proceedings, provided that this is substantiated by a document issued by the competent authorities that deported or detained the individual pending the resolution of the case. Additionally, the exemption extends to individuals who have not been issued an ID card for the period preceding their acquisition of UAE’s citizenship and the subsequent issuance of their family book.
