Colonel Abdullah Ateeq, Deputy Assistant Director for Investigation Affairs at the Overstayers and Foreigners Follow-up Sector in Dubai, revealed that the departure permit for residency overstayers is valid until 31 December. Furthermore, he stated that the departure permit is valid for a period of 14 days following its issuance.
In the event that the permit expires during the aforementioned grace period and its owner was unable to leave for a compelling reason, the permit can be renewed until the end of the grace period.
He also noted that the requisite condition for the issuance of the departure permit is the possession of a passport that is valid for a minimum of one month, or alternatively, a valid return document in the event of the loss or expiration of the passport. However, the specific duration of validity was not specified.
He urged those in violation of the regulations to take advantage of the grace period to rectify their status and to benefit from the privileges and exemptions that are available.
