The Sharjah Broadcasting Authority (SBA) announced the renaming of the “Sharjah Media Training Center” to “Sharjah Media Academy,” following the attainment of official academic accreditation in September last year.
This academy is the first of its kind in the emirate, having obtained an educational licence from the Sharjah Private Education Authority, making its training certificates academically recognised and licensed.
The academy aims to enhance the level of media training programmes by offering courses and workshops covering various fields of media, with a special focus on practical application that allows trainees to gain experience in an ideal training environment, preparing them to enter the world of media and journalism or to enhance the skills of employees seeking courses to elevate their capabilities in specific areas.
The courses are supervised by accredited trainers from the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, who possess extensive practical experience in the media sector.
Sharjah Media Academy boasts an integrated infrastructure that enables it to provide professional training at the highest level, with advanced facilities and studios equipped with the latest technologies in the fields of filming, editing, and media production, providing trainees with a practical environment that simulates the reality of media work. Through its courses, the academy targets specifically the authority’s employees, as well as governmental and private entities according to their needs, along with individuals interested in the media field, university students, and aspiring individuals.
On this occasion, Mohamed Hassan Khalaf, Director-General of the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, emphasised that the authority is committed to developing the media training system according to the highest global standards.
“With the change in the name from the Sharjah Media Training Center to the Sharjah Media Academy, we affirm our commitment to enhancing the capabilities of our media personnel and preparing them to keep pace with the rapid developments in the media sector. This name transformation stems from a broader vision aimed at establishing a comprehensive training institution that offers comprehensive training programmes covering various media fields.”
He added, “The new academy is part of the authority’s strategy that focuses on continuous training and professional development of media personnel. The training programmes are carefully designed to meet the needs of youth in the region and to develop their technical and creative skills.”
