The Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination (ZHO) has inaugurated a new comprehensive centre specialising in case assessment, support, care, and rehabilitation for injured Palestinians.
This initiative, which comes in line with the directives of the wise leadership, and as part of the UAE's commitment to supporting the Palestinian people during their challenging times, was carried out in collaboration and coordination with Emirates Humanitarian City at the city's headquarters.
The establishment of this new centre is part of the extensive efforts undertaken by the UAE to provide necessary support to People of Determination and injured Palestinians who have been transferred to the UAE for treatment and care.
This aligns with the initiative of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan to treat 1,000 injured Palestinians and 1,000 cancer patients, aiming to improve their quality of life and empower them to participate actively in society. This initiative is part of a series of humanitarian efforts for the benefit of brothers and sisters in war-affected Gaza.
The centre seeks to offer distinguished services in care, rehabilitation, and psychological and social support for the injured Palestinians, marking a significant milestone in their care.
ZHO has equipped a specialised facility within the Emirates Humanitarian City to provide comprehensive care for People of Determination. The facility includes rooms for medical and psychological evaluations, therapy rooms offering physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and auditory rehabilitation.
Additionally, it features educational rooms to create a conducive learning environment tailored to the needs of People of Determination of all ages, with appropriate teaching tools. Administrative offices are included to streamline the management and organisation of services, ensuring their efficient continuity, alongside technical support offices to provide ongoing technical assistance for all devices and equipment used in delivering these services.
In Terms of Care and Rehabilitation Provided by Zayed Higher Organisation Specialists to Injured Palestinians Residing in Emirates Humanitarian City, the organisation's specialists have successfully assessed 123 cases of People of Determination, while continuing to deliver approximately 80 diverse therapy sessions weekly. Additionally, they have met the supportive needs of around 66 cases of physical disabilities and provided 11 hearing aids to individuals with hearing impairments, aiming to empower their integration into society and facilitate their daily lives.
ZHO also coordinated with Ibn Sina School for Deaf Education to establish an auditory rehabilitation class for students with hearing impairments, facilitating their integration into the Emirati school system.
Furthermore, the organisation trained individuals with visual impairments in Braille to ease their inclusion in Emirati schools and offered educational services tailored to the needs of individuals with intellectual disabilities across various categories. In collaboration with Emirates Humanitarian City, the organisation has provided care, rehabilitation, evaluations, and diverse therapy sessions.
They have also fitted prosthetic limbs and offered physical therapy, training recipients in the use of prosthetics to suit their needs across all age groups.
This support includes moral encouragement and necessary rehabilitation to help individuals adapt to the daily use of prosthetic limbs. Additionally, they have supplied wheelchairs, braces, and hearing aids to People of Determination and injured Palestinians.
