The Sharjah Museums Authority (SMA) is commemorating the UAE’s 53rd National Day by offering free entry to all its museums located in Sharjah city, Kalba, and Khorfakkan on December 1 and 2, inviting families to enjoy meaningful and enriching cultural experiences.
As part of the celebrations, SMA has planned a variety of engaging activities across its museums from November 23 to December 3.
The lineup of activities reflects SMA’s strategy and commitment to fostering a deeper appreciation of Emirati heritage and creating opportunities for the community to connect with the nation’s cultural legacy. Visitors can look forward to interactive and family-friendly events.
Hisn Khorfakkan will kick off the festivities on November 23, running from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with traditional performances and maritime-themed displays while Bait Al Naboodah will host a special event on November 26, blending heritage-themed workshops, traditional games, and Emirati culinary delights, scheduled from 5:00pm to 8:00pm.
From December 1 to 3, the Sharjah Maritime Museum will feature live performances, engaging competitions, and activities designed to entertain all age groups, running from 4:30pm to 9:30pm.
On December 2, Bait Sheikh Saeed Bin Hamad Al Qasimi in Kalba will host a celebratory event from 5:00pm to 10:00pm, with cultural exhibitions, music, and workshops providing a vibrant atmosphere for visitors to enjoy.
Other museums under SMA’s umbrella, including the Sharjah Archaeology Museum, Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization, and Sharjah Calligraphy Museum, will host specialised workshops and activities that reflect the UAE’s cultural identity, offering visitors a chance to explore Emirati traditions and artistic heritage.
SMA’s National Day celebrations underscore its ongoing efforts to enrich the cultural landscape and ensure accessibility to its diverse programs and collections.
Families and visitors of all ages are invited to take part in the festivities and enjoy the free entry to explore the exceptional exhibitions currently on display, including Bait Sheikh Saeed Bin Hamad Al Qasimi, “Letters Exchanged: Correspondence of Sheikh Saeed and His Family” showcases rare historical letters until December 31, 2024. Bait Al Naboodah hosts “I’m in Sharjah Museums”, featuring student works inspired by Sharjah’s musems, until April 6, 2025. The Sharjah Heritage Museum presents “Reflections and Inspirations from Emirati Heritage”, displaying 54 artworks by University of Sharjah students, until April 15, 2025.
The Sharjah Archaeology Museum presents the “Journey of Discoveries”, an interactive exhibition introducing children to archaeology through hands-on experiences and educational activities, running until May 18, 2025. Additionally, the Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization, “Eternal Letters: Quranic Manuscripts from the Abdulrahman Al Owais Collection” highlights 81 rare Quranic manuscripts until May 25, 2025
