The Rashid Center for People of Determination organised a special celebration on the occasion of Eid Al Etihad 53 (National Day) at its premises.
The chief guest was Sheikh Juma Bin Maktoum Bin Juma Al Maktoum, Managing Director of the Rashid Center for People of Determination.
The events were also attended by Ahmed Hashem Khouri, Founder of the Center, and a group of prominent personalities including businessmen, entrepreneurs, and supporters of the centre, as well as students and their families.
Ahead of the main celebrations at the auditorium, the guests were led by Maryam Othman, Director General of Rashid Center for People of Determination, on a tour of the facility and interacted with the students and their teachers.
They also followed a series of artistic, heritage, and national events prepared by the students in celebration of Eid Al Etihad, through which they expressed their joy on this occasion, and recalled the memory of the founding of the union and raising the flag of the nation high.
The students through their performances highlighted the efforts of the founding leaders and their achievements.
As part of the performance, the students presented the theatrical act “March of a Nation,” through which they reflected the depth of their commitment to the national identity, and their belief in the meanings of humanity and love, and the values of tolerance and brotherhood that the wise leadership has established in the society. Fashion designer Walid Atallah, in cooperation with Sahar Madani, presented a show of Emirati fashion during the ceremony, in partnership with students of the centre.
In his speech at the beginning of the ceremony, Khouri said,
“This day renews in us the spirit of the union, which was established in us by the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum. May God bless their souls, and their brothers, Their Highnesses the Rulers of the Emirates, who set their sights on the UAE’s advancement and prosperity, which made the union a promise to future generations, a promise of hard work, achievements, and building a country that celebrates people and believes in their capabilities. Today, we celebrate the 53rd anniversary of the founding of our country and its inspiring journey, which our wise leadership has continued with all its energy, making our country a symbol of leadership in all fields, reflecting the vision of our wise leadership, which believed in the importance of investing in people who represent the nation’s true wealth. We sense the special status that people of determination enjoy in the heart of the wise leadership and its insightful vision, as the UAE was and still is a warm embrace for them, guaranteeing their rights and opening doors of opportunities for them, reflecting this humanitarian approach in the essence of our national identity.”
He added, “We have succeeded in Rashid Center creating an educational environment capable of providing people of determination with the care they need, and distinctive rehabilitation and training programmes that open up broad horizons for them, and advance them and their talents and capabilities. This would not have been possible without the support of our wise leadership.”
On the sidelines of the celebration, Rashid Center also hosted the “Union Day Exhibition,” which provided an opportunity for entrepreneurs and owners of small and medium enterprises to showcase their work and handmade products inspired by the spirit of Emirati heritage, which included traditional folk costumes, perfumes and incense, abayas and household utensils, traditional folk dishes and other heritage crafts.
The exhibition also allocated a corner to display a variety of handicrafts made by the center’s students, which represented the product of their creativity and participation in the center’s vocational training workshops.
Maryam Othman assured that the exhibition comes in support of male and female entrepreneurs and highlights their role in enhancing the presence of local heritage, noting that it represents an opportunity to showcase the creativity of Rashid Center for People of Determination students, their various capabilities, and the qualitative skills they possess.
