His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, shared a wonderful video which tells the story of a meeting that made history.
Sheikh Mohammed said that meeting was the first line written by Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum in the story of the Union Nation.
Sheikh Mohammed said on the X platform: “Zayed and Rashid... Eternalising and significant figures in the record of pride and glory. We will tell the generations the story of a meeting which made history, a meeting of brotherhood and love in Arqoub Al Sedira on Feb.18, 1968.”
Sheikh Mohammed added,: “On that day, hands shook and visions met to unite destinies. That was the first line written by Zayed and Rashid in the story of the Union Nation. A nation that does not know the impossible, which started from the desert to the depths of space, with the determination of the Union people.”
The 53rd Eid Al Etihad celebrations swept across the UAE on Sunday, reflecting joy, pride, and admiration for the nation’s achievements in all fields, which have established the country as a model of civilisational progress and humanitarian values.
Government buildings, public squares, streets, and shopping centres are all adorned with the UAE flag and various decorations symbolising this cherished national occasion.
The Organising Committee of the 53rd Eid Al Etihad had announced the availability of multiple locations across the emirates for live broadcasts of the official celebration on Dec.2 (Monday).
The committee also issued a comprehensive guide detailing celebration venues in the seven emirates to enrich the experience, aiming to unite audiences in an atmosphere of joy through engaging activities and events marking Union Day.
The official celebration will be broadcast live across the UAE on local TV channels, the Eid Al Etihad 53 YouTube channel, and the official website. Additionally, the ceremony will be screened live in cinemas nationwide.
Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, (Mother of the Nation), Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), stated that the UAE’s Eid Al Etihad is a lasting symbol of the culmination of efforts and love for the homeland.
On the occasion of the 53rd Eid Al Etihad, Sheikha Fatima said that the UAE, represented by its flag of the Union, stands as a symbol of unity, a beacon of progress and an role model among leading nations.
