Local authorities in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, southern China, reported on Thursday that 13 workers are missing following a sudden landslide at a railway construction site in the city.
According to the People’s Daily Online, the landslide occurred on Wednesday evening at a construction site along the Shenzhen-Jiangmen railway line in the Bao’an district of Shenzhen, an emergency management bureau’s statement said.
A full-scale rescue operation has been launched, nearby residents have been evacuated, and temporary traffic controls have been implemented around the site.
An investigation into the circumstances of the incident is currently underway.
