Ongoing events in Syria are an indicator of political failure: Gargash

Dr Anwar Gargash, Diplomatic Adviser to the UAE President affirmed on Sunday that the ongoing events in Syria are an indicator of political failure, emphasising that the picture regarding the integrity of Syrian territories is still very unclear, and that the main source of concern is extremism and terrorism.

Gargash said on the X platform: "Huge regional geopolitical changes require careful consideration, wisdom, and dialogue to get out of the circle of chaos and violence."

He also clarified in statements to "Sky News Arabia" that the ongoing events in Syria are an indicator of political failure. The last 24 hours have shown that the region is still going through difficult and tense times."

Dr Gargash added that the defensive and military roles should not be under the control of armed groups, stressing that non-governmental parties must not be allowed to exploit the interregnum.

Dr Gargash also affirmed that the picture regarding the integrity of Syrian territories is still very unclear, indicating that “we have to wait and see what will happen in Syria later”.

The solution in Syria lies in a state that can be trusted and the main source of fear is the integrity of Syrian territories, which is still under threat, Dr Gargash emphasised.
