The Dubai Police General Headquarters has announced the arrest of Othman El Ballouti, a 38-year-old Belgian, who is currently one of the most wanted individuals in Belgium.
He has been placed on an international Red Notice and is listed by INTERPOL and the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation (Europol) due to his involvement in transnational organised crime and drug trafficking.
The Dubai Police have indicated that teams from the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation apprehended Othman El Ballouti, in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior.
This action was undertaken in response to an international arrest warrant issued by the Belgian authorities, which was transmitted to the International Cooperation Department at the UAE Ministry of Justice.
This department serves as the central authority responsible for receiving international cooperation requests.
In accordance with the extradition process, Dubai Police have referred El Ballouti to the Dubai Public Prosecution for legal action to be taken against him.
In a statement, the Dubai Police confirmed that the arrest of Othman El Ballouti was part of their ongoing commitment to combating transnational organised crime in all its forms.
