A calamitous incident occurred in the city of Al Ahsa in Saudi Arabia, where a fire broke out in a house and resulted in the demise of seven individuals from a single family. The ignition of the blaze was attributed to a mobile phone charger, according to Al Arabiya.
Haider Al Hassan, a relative of the victims disclosed the circumstances surrounding the incident to Al Arabiya, where he said that the fire originated when a mobile phone charger overheated, resulting in the sofa in the room catching fire.
The father observed the presence of copious quantities of smoke and proceeded to open the doors in an effort to rescue his family. However, he lost his footing and fell, and the son was able to provide assistance, enabling the father and mother to exit the residence, according to Haider Al Hassan.
The toxic smoke rapidly disseminated throughout the interior of the residence, pervading enclosed spaces, he stated.
The inhalation of smoke resulted in the immediate demise of three individuals due to asphyxiation, while four others succumbed to their injuries at a later stage.
The Civil Defence responded expeditiously to the incident, exerting considerable effort to extinguish the fire and rescue the survivors. However, the damage had already been done.
The mother is currently hospitalised in a stable condition, he stated, while the family is experiencing trauma as a result of the loss of their loved ones.
